A ‘Gorgeous Weekend for Women’ is being provided by The Rotary Club of Ashburton and Buckfastleigh, to raise money for children’s surgeries in Sierra Leone.
On Friday, Saturday and Monday March 24, 25 and 27 fundraising therapies, including aromatherapy, massage, reiki, reflexology, nails, facials and hair styling, will be on offer at Buckfastleigh Methodist Church.
The entrance fee is £5 per day and each treatment is £5 for a half-hour session. Participants can have as many treatments as they wish, and advance booking is available. Tea and coffee is included in the charge.
A spokesman for the event said: ‘The Gorgeous Weekend for Women event is specifically in aid of the Connaught Project, one of our own overseas projects - outfitting a paediatric hospital theatre in Sierra Leone, Africa. It’s a dire need for the children there.
‘In Rotary we are able to apply for overseas grants from our own Rotary Foundation, to which we all contribute, and the application has been made, also involving Rotary Clubs in Hull, Torquay, Peronne in France and, of course, in Sierra Leone. This event is to assist in raising the necessary funds to support that grant application, something which each club involved must do.’
