A TEIGNMOUTH businesswoman has launched a campaign to stop restrictions being imposed on Brunswick Street car park from April 1.

Cheryl Redman, a private landlady in Brunswick Street, says that the move by Teignbridge Council to limit parking to four hours only will be disastrous for residents and businesses alike.

The scheme will also apply to car-park permit holders and disabled badge holders.

Ms Redman is encouraging people to write letters of protest to Howard Davis, the council's chief executive, and she has started a petition against the plan hoping to attract at least 1,000 signatures.

'There are many hotels and guest houses in the area around Brunswick Street and Northumberland Place,' she said.

'Where will their guests park? On-street parking is limited in the season, and the Point and Quay Road car parks are not at all convenient. I pay £350 per year to the council for a parking permit, but they are not providing a decent service.'
