A CYCLIST had to throw himself in the hedge and pedestrians have also been in peril from speeding cars on a narrow Teignmouth road. The cyclist took the action to avoid being mown down by a vehicle travelling along the lane that links Paradise Road with Ferndale Road.Pedestrians, including children, are at risk because there is a bend on the lane, which is only wide enough for one vehicle.Town councillor Geoff Bladon wants something done about the dangerous route, and said there had been a lot of complaints from residents and narrow escapes. He told a town council meeting that making the lane one-way uphill would be the best solution. Any pedestrians or drivers entering the lane were not able to see along the entire length and there had been occasions when cars had to reverse out on to the busy Ferndale Road.Cllr Bladon believed that the advantages of a one-way system would outweigh any disadvantages.
