HOW does your garden grow... extremely well it appears if you’re a member of Dawlish Garden Society!

The society held its annual summer show and plant sale at The Stand Centre in the town last Saturday.

The venue looked resplendent with an abundance of entries in all sections including fruit and vegetable, a colourful array of flowers and plants, plus handicrafts, photography, art, cookery, and children's classes.

‘Judges’ comments were complementary and helpful especially for 1st time entrants, they were impressed with the quality and quantity of the entries this year,’ said society chairman June Cassidy.

‘As well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes there were also Highly Commended entries in some classes.

‘We had a “People’s Choice” vote for best flower which engaged much pondering with visitors, eventually after a recount Sally Gidney won with her home grown Dahlia.’

At the awards ceremony to close the show, Dawlish mayor Cllr Rosie Dawson, presented the Cups and Trophies to all the winners.

She had already chosen Best in Show which was a large cactus type red tipped yellow Dahlia shown and grown by Helen Bays – a regular successful exhibitor.
