A PLAN for more than a dozen townhouses between Dawlish and Teignmouth has been given the green-light by planners.
The planning application - reference 23/00305/MAJ - sought permission for the construction of 13 townhouses at Shell Cove House, located on the edge of Dawlish and within close proximity to Holcombe.
The new dwellings are proposed as three blocks of three terraced houses and two blocks of semi-detached houses; each property will have a private garden, with two external car parking spaces plus an inset garage with space for an additional vehicle.
The application also includes provision for landscaping, access, and other infrastructure.
And Teignbridge District Council have granted planning permission, albeit subject to conditions.
‘The development hereby permitted shall begin before the expiry of three years from the date of this permission’, the council said in its decision notice, which was published on December 1.
The project offers 13 open-market houses that ‘reflect the local vernacular while enhancing biodiversity’, the design and access statement for 23/00305/MAJ says.
‘The development has been thoughtfully designed to minimise visual impact, respecting both the site’s sensitive landscape setting and neighbouring properties’, the statement goes on to say.
The proposal received several objections, as well as submissions voicing support.
