'We are preparing to hand over the play parks under licence,' said Cavanna head of design and planning Ian Pugsley. 'This means the community could use them while the maintenance period is sorted out. 'There are some outstanding items to sort out, but all these need to be done in order. For example the footpath can't be finished until the adjacent boundary wall, which belongs to a third party, is replaced in part. 'We are endeavouring to finish all the work as soon as possible, working in conjunction with Teignbridge and Chudleigh councils.' Mr Pugsley said the skate park was a subject of ongoing debate. 'It was designed by an outside engineer,' he said. 'I think some of the boys wanted a Winter Olympics- style course, but that was never on the cards as it takes up so much space. There would have been no kick around area or riverside walk. The design was approved by Teignbridge council and there was public consultation.'
