MYSTERY surrounds the cause of the deaths of two dogs in Shaldon.br>Pet owners fear the animals may have been affected by some kind of poison.br>The deaths are understood to have happened after both dogs had been in the village's Botanical Gardens.br>Dave Carpenter's dog Sybil died just days after becoming ill.br>He said a vet who treated the five-year-old Border collie carried out a post mortem but was unable to establish how Sybil died.br>However, the vet did not rule out the possibility she could have been poisoned. br>He said: 'There is no proof but it would appear that the dog had ingested poison.br>'It's strange for an otherwise fit and healthy five-year-old dog to die so quickly.'br>Sybil's symptoms began after a regular walk in the gardens and despite treatment, she deteriorated and died.
