Two people are in hospital after they were seriously assaulted in Newton Abbot in the early hours of thos morning (Monday, May 4).
Police were called just after midnight to a premises on Highweek Street, following a report of an altercation involving a group of people where two people were assaulted with a bladed weapon.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “A man and a woman have sustained serious injuries, which are not deemed to be life-threatening. They have been taken to hospital for treatment.
“A 27-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and he remains in custody at this time.”
Two scene guards remain in place in the town as the investigation is ongoing and Bradley Lane is currently closed both ways from Market Street to Halcyon Road.
Investigating detectives are appealing for anyone with information which may assist police, who have not already been spoken to, to please get in touch.
