POLICE are appealing for help to identify a driver who appeared to try to entice a 12-year-old girl into his car in Bovey Tracey.
Officers say they are ‘concerned’ following a report that the bald driver tried to offer the young girl a lift in his car.
The incident happened on Wednesday evening as the girl was walking along Pottery Road, near the House of Marbles.
She reported seeing the dark blue ‘long’ car, possibly an estate car, pull up nearby.
The driver got out of the car and asked the girl if she wanted a lift.
She quickly ran off and went to a friend’s house a short distance away.
The driver is described as a bald man, about 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build.
He was wearing a short-sleeved shirt and had what are described as having ‘sleeve tattoos’ on both arms.
A police spokesman said: ‘Naturally we are concerned about this report and we would like to identify this man.
‘We would encourage people not to be overly alarmed but to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour by calling 999.’
