AUTHORITIES are appealing to the public for assistance in an ongoing investigation into a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Dartmoor, resulting in serious injuries to a cyclist. The incident took place near Princetown, outside the Two Bridges Hotel, when a man in his 60s was struck from behind by a car.

The cyclist, a Yelverton resident, was riding his bicycle in the early morning hours on Sunday, June 18, between 6:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. The collision caused the cyclist to be thrown off his bike and rendered unconscious. Subsequently, he was immediately transported to Derriford Hospital, where medical examinations revealed several broken ribs and significant facial lacerations.

The driver responsible for the collision failed to stop at the scene, leaving the injured cyclist unattended. Witnesses described the vehicle involved as a small blue car, believed to have been traveling from the Princetown area towards Postbridge.

Local law enforcement has launched a thorough investigation into the incident and is seeking the cooperation of the community to locate both the driver and the vehicle involved. In particular, the police are interested in gathering any dashcam footage or statements from individuals who may have witnessed the hit-and-run incident.
