TEIGNMOUTH councillors are revamping their policy on hiring contractors, to ensure it is 'open and transparent'.

There have been concerns about the way that public work around the town is allocated and it has caused some internal wrangling between the clerk, Dave Tickell, and councillors.

Now a list is being drawn up of contractors who will take on council jobs in three categories – emergency, minor and major works. All tradespeople in the area can asked to be included, quoting their terms and whether they have full insurance cover.
