Teignbridge Council’s top-earning CEO Nicola Bulbeck has announced she will be quitting the authority next month – and she isn’t being replaced.
Ms Bulbeck, who rakes in a basic salary of £125,000 plus benefits, is set to depart from the council on June 9 – after she has fulfilled her duty as returning officer at the General Election.
Teignbridge has said it will not be finding someone to step into her shoes, but instead her duties will be distributed among other officers and her deputy Phil Shears.
Ms Bulbeck has held the top job for 11 years.
The reasons for her departure and subsequent career plans have not yet been revealed by the council.
A Teignbridge spokesman said: ‘We want to place on record our thanks to Nicola for her hard work and commitment during her time as chief executive.
‘Her leadership and achievements during difficult and challenging times have made a significant impact locally, regionally and nationally.
‘We wish Nicola all the very best for the future.’
Ms Bulbeck would like to ‘put on record her thanks and respect for her Teignbridge colleagues, partners, businesses and members of the public with whom she has worked to deliver Teignbridge’s priorities and to place it in a strong position going forward.’
