BUILDER Reg Winsor has taken matters into his own hands in a bid to sort out Newton Abbot’s horrific pothole problems.

Armed with a wheelbarrow full of tarmac, Reg has hit the streets and just filled in his 200th pothole.

Since 2015 Reg (pictured below), who is also a Teignbridge councillor, has repaired at least one pothole every week.

Cllr Phil Bullivant hailed his Conservative colleague as the ‘pothole king of Newton Abbot’.

Reg said he took action because he was fed-up with people who point and complain and then take the credit for the work contractors do.

He said: ‘I set out to sort out local problems as soon as they occurred – saving time and money.

‘I believe that action not words works best for my constituents.’
