The Dawlish Probus group finished their 2021 programme with a rousing ukulele rendition of Christmas songs, both rock ‘n’ roll and traditional, given by the U-Kan Strum Ukulele Band of Dawlish.

The music was interspersed with ‘Christmas Cracker’ versions of jokes and notices, which all went down well, along with everybody’s singing.

This talented band of local musicians play for various local organisations and just ask for a donation to Cancer Research UK. They can be contacted by email on [email protected].

Dawlish Probus will now have their traditional Christmas lunch at the Mount Pleasant, prior to a break, and then start a packed programme of weekly meetings on January 10.

The meetings are on Monday mornings at the Manor House, Dawlish, from 10am to midday, with visiting speakers covering a huge range of themes: anything from local history, varied topical issues, personal life stories and simply amusing, entertaining and interesting subjects.

It is best to contact the club’s secretary, Earl Connolly, on 01626 906375 to arrange to go along and find out what it is like for yourself.
