PERMISSION to convert a Newton Abbot property into a House of Multiple Occupancy (HMO) has been granted.

An application to obtain a Certificate of Lawfulness for a proposed change of use of 8 Gloucester Road from C3 (dwelling) to C4 (HMO) was submitted to Teignbridge District Council (TDC) in August.

25/00806/CLDP sought to convert the building to allow for a six bedroom HMO.

‘The change of use will allow six individuals to live in the house to help with the UK's housing crisis’, the application form reads.

And TDC approved, publishing its decision notice on October 17.

It should be noted that, it is lawful to change use from C3 to C4 without the requirement for planning permission.
