SHOPPERS in Newton Abbot are being invited to help victims of last week’s Italian earthquake disaster in which nearly 300 people died and thousands were left homeless.
Antonio Galati, who runs the Dippiu Italian deli in Queen Street, is tomorrow serving up pasta with a famous sauce which has its origins in Amatrice which took the brunt of the ’quake on August 24.
All the money raised from the sale of the specially-made Amatriciana sauce will be sent to the small Puglian town.
Next week he will donate £2 for every sale he makes of the ‘delizia’ concoction.
‘I hope people will come to help my country,’ said Antonio who comes from Calabria in southern Italy.
