FURIOUS villagers claim they have been kept in the dark over a scheme to develop a sports field complex on the outskirts of Teignmouth, writes John Ware.

Teignbridge Council wants to convert Michaels Field, at Bishopsteignton, alongside the main A381 road, into sports pitches, with changing rooms, a pavilion, and car parking.

It would be a badly needed replacement for the sports area at Broadmeadow, Teignmouth, which has been out of bounds for years because of soil contamination from an old rubbish tip. There is a desperate need for football pitches for youth teams in the area.
