A Teignbridge wood owned by the Woodland Trust and which is home to many species of bat is to be restored to its native glory, thanks to £40,000 funding from Viridor Credits Environmental Company through the Landfill Communities Fund.
Bovey Valley Woods in the Dartmoor National Park covers 87 hectares (215 acres) of richly diverse habitat which straddles the rolling moors and descends to the River Bovey.
The woods have recently been found to contain a rare colony of barbastelle bat, one of only a handful found in this country.
