A NEWTON Abbot couple recently celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Richard Underhill met Barbara Williams when he was with the Junior Leaders Regiment at Denbury Camp in 1963.
They married at St Mary the Virgin Church Abbotskerswell on August 7, 1965.
And after just two months of marriage, Richard went to serve in Borneo while Barbara remained in Newton Abbot.

Richard served for 34 years in the army and was accompanied by Barbara during his military service in the UK, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
After leaving the army Richard and Barbara settled in Newton Abbot in 1996.
Richard went to work for the Royal Navy in Devonport as a civil servant, while Barbara went into the care sector, working at Forde Parke eventually becoming manager.
Unfortunately, due to illness Barbara had to take early retirement.
Richard and Barbara have three children, 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
