NEWTON Abbot residents who were baffled and angered by the disappearance of their post box early last month have protested by erecting a mock-up in its place.

The post box, in Old Totnes Road, was removed when work was carried out on lampposts in the street by Devon County Council.

But four weeks later it has still not been replaced – causing problems for the road's occupiers.

Resident Melville Bishop is leading the campaign to get the post box back and has created his own fake box to show how much the road is missing the facility.
