The volunteer crew from Teignmouth Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) were called into action this morning (Wednesday August 20) to rescue a boat with engine failure.
A pager alert went out at 8:47am after Solent Coastguard tasked Teignmouth RNLI to assist wth a 4.5m Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) with one person onboard.
‘The vessel was experiencing engine failure and had begun dragging its anchor,’ an RNLI Teignmouth spokesperson reported.
Teignmouth’s volunteer crew headed out on the Atlantic 85 lifeboat Claude and Kath and quickly located the casualty vessel around one mile east of Teignmouth Pier.
Once they had assessed the situation, the crew decided to provide a safe tow back to Shaldon where the boat was secured on its mooring
