A SOUTH Devon company has been handed a coveted King’s Award by Devon’s Lord Lieutenant.
Torquay-based Pet Remedy was honoured for its pioneering calming products, a natural range designed to help animals cope with stress and anxiety without sedation.
The King’s Awards for Enterprise are among the UK’s most prestigious business honours, celebrating outstanding achievement in areas including innovation, international trade and sustainable development.
Pet Remedy has spent years developing a calming range used by pet owners, vets, behaviourists and rescue organisations.
Managing director Martyn Barklett-Judge said: “Having our King’s Award formally presented by the Lord Lieutenant on behalf of His Majesty the King here in Torquay was an enormous honour and a very special moment for the whole team.
“This achievement belongs to everyone who has helped make Pet Remedy what it is today. It reflects years of hard work, research and determination, all driven by a shared commitment to helping animals feel calmer and more comfortable.
“To have that work recognised at this level makes us incredibly proud. The greatest reward will always be knowing we are making a difference to animals and the people who care for them, and this honour gives us even more encouragement to keep building on that work.”
Pet Remedy’s products are designed for use across a wide range of animals, including mammals, birds and reptiles. The company says its patented formula helps calm the nervous system naturally while allowing animals to stay alert and responsive.
Rob Tyler of Pet Remedy said the award was specially meaningful because it showed animal welfare innovation was getting the recognition it deserved.
He went on: “It is still very rare for a pet business to receive this kind of national recognition, which makes this achievement all the more significant.
“This award sends a strong message that improving the emotional health of animals matters.”
