FORMER Royal Navy man Richard Hayward has raised more than £3,600 for the Royal British Legion.
Richard, who served in the forces from 1966 to 1991, has spent 10 years creating special Dawlish poppy-themed badges and raised more than £23,000.
This year’s version raised a total of £3,697.72 and all 1,650 badges made sold.
Richard said: ‘I would like to say a very big thank you to all the businesses which have helped me in raising such a wonderful amount for the Poppy Appeal.
‘This takes my donations to the Poppy Appeal with nine different designed badges plus two different car stickers since 2015 to £23,076.59p.’
All the badges have had a Dawlish theme, often featuring the town’s iconic Black Swans.
