ORGANISERS of Kingsteignton's 'alternative' Devon County Show have been forced to change the venue.

Devon's Biggest and Best Celebration was due to have taken place along the new section of the B3193, but weather has hampered construction and the road is unlikely to be completed in time.

Minerals company Sibelco has diverted a 3km stretch of the road in a £10 million scheme to open up new clay reserves which were under the existing road.

Recent bad weather has delayed the work – being carried out by construction company Dawnus – and it is now unlikely to be completed in time for the end of May celebrations.

Sibelco operations manager Gary Stringer confirmed: 'Work on the road has been delayed due to the atrocious weather conditions.
