BATTLE of Britain pilot Billy Drake was among the wreath-layers at a memorial service for the Battle of Britain 'few' on Sunday in Teignmouth. Mr Drake, a retired RAF group captain from Bishopsteignton, laid a wreath at the war memorial on the Den on behalf of the Teignmouth RAFA. Teignmouth mayor Cllr Geoff Bladon, and the Royal British Legions of Teignmouth and Newton Abbot also laid wreaths. There was a parade of standards from the Dawlish and Newton Abbot ATCs, Royal British Legions and the RAFA. Rev Philip Luff led the memorial service. The service celebrated the victory of The Few and honoured the memory of the 57 pilots of fighter command who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of Britain.
