PRIZEWINNERS of the Boxing Day Walk-in-the-Sea at Teignmouth were presented with trophies at a ceremony held by the RNLI earlier this month.
Almost £1,500 has so far been raised by the event. It goes towards the Train One, Save Many crew training campaign to help save lives at sea.
Town mayor Cllr Geoff Bladon and chairman of the RNLI Guild John Barrett presented trophies and certificates. A further presentation was made to the organisation raising the largest sum for the year in a lifeboat collecting box in the Teignmouth and Dawlish area.
The trophy this year went to Fulfords estate agents, The Triangle (£472). The winners were: Imogen Sewell – youngest entrant, aged 7 years. Abigail McElligot – best fancy dress (under 14-yr-old) – dressed as a cat. Shirley Martin – best fancy dress (individual) – dressed as policewoman. Group from Hub in The Triangle – best fancy dress (team) – dressed as waiters. Bob Hussey – most sponsorship money raised for RNLI individual) raising £352. Santa's Rejects – most sponsorship money raised for RNLI (team) raising £644. Chloe Dunn – for travelling the furthest to take part. She travelled from Paris. l A coffee morning and bring-and-buy sale in aid of Teignmouth RNLI Lifeboat Guild is being held at the Tomorrow's Teignmouth Information Centre, Northumberland Place, on Easter Saturday, April 15, between 10am and 3pm. There will be a range of RNLI gifts and souvenirs on sale, together with bric-a-brac, books, plants and home made cakes.
