Teignmouth’s promenade will finally look a lot more colourful after flower beds along the seafront are planted up this week.
Residents had complained that the seafront ‘looked like a concrete jungle’ with bare and uninviting flowerbeds while other resorts already had impressive floral displays.
However, contractors working on behalf of Teignbridge District Council have been busy planting up flower beds along the town’s promenade this week.
Other areas along the promenade and in the town were planted with wildflowers in April and these ‘should be starting to bloom within the next couple of weeks if not out already,’ commented Teignbridge District councillor Andrew MacGregor.
He added that he hoped to explore the use of salt-resistant perennial plants along the seafront that would bring more colour for longer.
