PUT on your belly dancing costume and shimmy down to the Bumala Trust's Hafla at Ogwell Memorial Hall tomorrow night.

The charity, based in Teignbridge, raises vital funds for orphans and widows of HIV/Aids victims in North West Kenya. It is the second Hafla, a celebration of middle eastern music and dance, that the charity has held.

Last year it raised £500 for the charity and hopes are high this year. 'It will be even more successful,' said Rebecca Larkin, who organised the event and is a trustee of the Bumala Trust. 'This year we have a lot more things organised and more people coming along including an African drummer called Mr Powerful Drums. We also have a diverse range of dances including belly dancing, African and tribal dancing performed by Siouxsie Cooper.'

Those who go will be entered into a special draw. 'One person will have the chance to win a pair of Flybe plane tickets on any European route,' said Mrs Larkin.

There will also be a raffle where people can win vouchers for Eastern Eye, Saffron, Get Wicked, Gershwins, Wendy Davis Beauty Salon, Jan Dilkes Reflexology, massage and aromatherapy, Beauty Spot and a Shimmyages portrait.

Stolen From Susies is also donating to the charity and will have a stall at the Hafla. Mrs Larkin has been involved in the charity for two years and has sponsored an orphan through it. So far, thanks to the goodwill of residents in Teignbridge, 40 children have been sponsored but more than 500 need help. 'Hopefully money raised at the Hafla will help sponsor more children,' she said. Take a bottle and a cushion and wear your bling to the Hafla, which starts at 8pm. For more details, call 01626 208105.
