As the autumn days draw in and Halloween approaches, a sure-fire way of encouraging the kids to enjoy the outdoors is to head to a local pumpkin patch.

While the hot summer hasn’t been kind to pumpkin farmers, there are still plenty of varieties and colours available – although they may not be as big as in previous years.

Here are some of the best pumpkin patches across Teignbridge:

Dawlish Pumpkin Patch

Teignmouth Road, Dawlish EX7 0LA (next to the Smugglers Inn)

Open 10am until 4pm October 25-31

After last year’s successful launch, the Smallacombe Farm organic pumpkin patch is returning for 2026. Expect on-site carving, a chance to meet some of the animals, face painting and refreshments.

Devon Pumpkin Picking

Bickington TQ12 6LH

Open 10am until 4pm October 4-5, 11-12, 18-19 and 25-31.

There’s plenty of space to roam across this six-acre patch and plenty of choice with 20 different pumpkin varieties.
