CLOSE to four hundred pounds has been raised for charity at a concert up on Dartmoor.

Widecombe Community Hall CIO, a registered charity overseeing the construction of a new community space for the village, is £388 better off thanks to the geneoristy shown by those who attended Jim Causley's concert featuring 'Songs of Dartmoor'.

More than 100 people filled St Pancreas church on Thursday, July 27, for the event, which was organised Daf Edwards, who invited Widecombe Community Hall CIO to serve refreshments.

On offer was beer, wine and non alcoholic drinks, as well as take-away boxes: cheese scone, cheese snack box and a cold meat snack box.

Jim Causley was joined in song by the Widecombe Singers.

'We raised a splendid £388.88!' a spokesman for Widecombe Community Hall CIO said.

'Thank you Yvette, Ivy, Gail, Chris M and Chris E, Dylan, & Miles for all your help in setting up, serving and clearing up afterwards!' the spokesman added.
