A SPATE of graffiti across Teignmouth has been condemned by councillors.

Cllr Robert Phipps tackled an array of damage to a shelter on the seafront.

Armed with a can of paint and brush, he was able to remove the marks.

He said: ‘Please have some civic pride in our town .

‘A lot of the graffitti around the town is not pleasant, interesting or amusing.’

Meanwhile the Guerrilla Gardeners are working around the town at other sites to clear graffiti.

A spokesman said: ‘Good graffiti can enhance a public space.

‘It can engage, entertain, amuse or provoke thought. ‘There are some great examples around.

'But a lot of our town’s graffiti is just boring, meaningless and pointless; it’s just not very good.’
