THE use of anti social behaviour orders in teignbridge has been spectacular, it was claimed this week.

There are currently 13 asbos in force across Teignbridge.

nine of the offenders involved have not come to the attention of the council or police since their asbos were put in place.

It is a different story for one or two others but overall the South Devon Community Safety Partnership of Teignbridge, South Hams and West Devon Councils, police, registered social landlords, the NHS, the Youth Offending Team, Devon Youth Service, the Fire and Rescue Service, Connexions and the British Transport Police, has been highly successful.

Cllr Jeremy Christophers, chairman of the district authority's overview and scrutiny committee, said that while nationally asbos may have had a mixed press, firm and rigorous application in Teignbridge had had spectacular results.
