THE Spirit of Teignmouth boat shed is up for sale on internet auction site e-bay. The controversial pre-fabricated building, which is home to the Spirit of Teignmouth round-the-world trimaran project, has to be off the Den by the end of February. The industrial building described on the website as ideal for an indoor arena, storage or manufacturing. It has been constructed to deal with high wind speeds and adverse weather conditions. The auction was opened on Saturday with an opening bid of £100. By Wednesday, 21 bids had been put forward with the highest at £5,700. Bids have not yet reached an undisclosed reserve price. The auction closes on Sunday afternoon. The building cost about £300,000. But skipper Simon Chalk will avoid costs to remove the building, which will be met by the buyer.
