IT’S ‘Back’ to the great outdoors for one Teignbridge firefighter who, after more than ten years of service, is hanging up the hose reel.

Over the span of his 11 years with Station 27, firefighter Chris Back became an appliance and car response driver, was a medical co-responder for the ambulance service and brought a ‘cheerfulness’ and ‘sense of humour’ to proceedings.

But all good things must come to an end, and as such Chris will be retiring from working with Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

‘We will miss Chris’ cheerfulness, sense of humour and unofficial role as station photographer’ a spokesperson for Moretonhampstead Fire Station said.

‘He will now be spending more time in outdoor activities and continue playing guitar in his busy band.

‘All the best for the future Chris!’ the spokesperson added.

In 2016, Chris released a charity song in the wake of the Cathedral Green fire in Exeter.
