JUST amazing was how dad Karl Mainzer described the arrival of his daughter Sunshine on Christmas Day.

Mum Sarah Hastilow gave birth to 7lbs 4ozs Sunshine in Torbay Hospital at 11.24am, four days after she was due.

Karl, a sound designer, said Sarah began to get twinges on Christmas Eve, and because of the icy weather he left the car at the bottom of the hill from their Newton Abbot home.

When Sunshine began arriving at 7am on Christmas Day the couple walked to the car to drive to Torbay Hospital.

'Though it was icy it was not too bad,' said Karl.

'We are both over the moon. We chose Sunshine because we wanted a name that resembled nature. It was sunshining on Christmas Day which suited her perfectly,' said Karl.

He added that their two-year-old daughter Daisy wanted to cuddle her baby sister all the time.

Unfortunately Daisy had to be rushed into hospital by ambulance with croup at 1am on Boxing Day.

'We saw quite a bit of Torbay Hospital. Daisy is not too bad now,' said Karl.

Ironically Daisy had herself been due to be born on Christmas Day, but had entered the world 10 days late on January 3. BABY Isabella Shaw kept mum and dad Katy Shaw and Steven Passmore waiting and then gave them the perfect Christmas present.

Isabella arrived in Torbay Hospital at 7.20am on Christmas Day, weighing in at 8lbs 6ozs and was six days overdue.

Telephone engineer Steven drove Katy from their Buckland, Newton Abbot home to the hospital early on Christmas morning after alerting their grandparents, who collected their two-and-a-half-year-old son Finley, that the baby was on the way.

'Luckily the weather was not as bad as it had been and it was not icy on the roads

'We are so happy. It was an amazing experience and to arrive on Christmas Day was the perfect gift. We will never forget the date of her birthday,' said a delighted Steven.
