A COMMUNITY fridge in the heart of Ashburton has been the beneficiary of surplus food thanks to the generosity of a supermarket's community champion.

Ashburton Community Fridge gratefully received plethora punnets of strawberries, dozens of bags of leafy greens and much else besides from Liz, community champion at the Morrisons store in Totnes.

A spokesman for Ashburton Community Fridge said: 'Huge thanks to Liz at Morrisons Totnes Community Champion for all the wonderful surplus food we picked up.'
