A TIMELY exhibition takes place at Newton’s Place next week.

‘We will remember them – an exhibition of forgotten soldiers of WWI’ coincides with Remembrance Day, and runs from November 9-13.

The Newton Abbot museum is staging a display of memorabilia and documents telling the story of the town’s role in the First World War.

Bridie Snelling, a volunteer at the town council building has put the exhibition together.

She said: ‘Everything on display is original and dates from 1910 to 1918. The exhibits have been loaned by private collectors.

‘I must thank Lionel Digby, Cobbaton Combat Museum, Grahame Parker, Greg Allen and friends and volunteers of the museum

Menfrom the town went to serve overseas with the Devonshire Regiment, while on the home front, Seale-Hayne became a field hospital for shell-shocked servicemen suffering from what we now call PTSD, not forgetting the stirling work carried out by the women in the town.

The exhibition can be found in the Rowell Room at Newton’s Place in Wolborough Street, and entrance is free.
