police, security staff and businesses have, in a 'team effort', prevented a gang of suspected Romanian fraudsters from cashing in on a likely bank note scam.

The first sign of trouble showed up last Wednesday evening when staff at the Kingsteignton Tesco store were asked to change bundles of £20 notes for something smaller.

As the cashiers obliged the East Europeans claimed they had been short changed but failed to convince their would-be victims.
