ENTRANTS in this year’s Teignmouth in Bloom were on a high.
They enthusiastically entered into the theme – Reach For the Stars – and gardens across the town featured planets, stars and even an astronaut.
And one of the judges, Viv Wilson, said they were tickled by a photograph tucked into the window of Dot Matthews’ Quarry Cottage showing her in an astronaut’s outfit at Hampton Court, standing by a Tim Peake cut-out.
Viv and fellow judges Roy Halsey, who is also a Royal Horticultural society judge, and Cllr June Green, had a busy day visiting gardens and looking at the spectacular floral containers.
The contest is organised by the town council, and all entrants will be invited to a presentation evening at Bitton House in September, which will include Viv’s filmshow of all the gardens recorded on judging day.
