A WORLD authority on the geology of the Bovey Basin has died at the age of 79.

Tony Vincent, who was born in Kingsteignton, died at his home on October 7.

As chief geologist for Watts Blake Bearne (WBB) he travelled widely in his ambassadorial role for the company’s ball clay acquisitions and joint ventures.

His extensive globetrotting roped in numerous visits to China, Thailand, the US, France and Germany.

During this hectic period of overseas visits, from the ’70s to the ’90s, he came to know more about the world’s resources of ball clays than probably anyone else in the field.
