CHEERED on by a good crowd, 11 teams battled it out in Newton Abbot Carnival Week's tractor-pulling event on Wednesday.

The course was the 50 metres from St Leonard's Clock Tower to the town gates and the quickest team was Peak Performance in a time of one minute nine seconds.

It earned them a £100 cheque for their chosen charity Help for Heroes, while the runners-up were the C R Willcocks and Co Ltd team whose £50 is going to the Chagford Young Farmers' Club charity account.
