TEIGNMOUTH'S new mayor, Cllr Ian Parkes, proved he is a linguist as well as an entertainer, when he welcomed a party from France in their own language, writes John Ware.

A party from the twin town of Perros-Guirec in Brittany were wined, dined and shown the sights of the area over the weekend, and also took part in the very English sport of bowls.

And they went away with a momento of the now legendary Muse gigs in Teignmouth last year – the group are also huge in France.<
