THE start of the Teignmouth back beach £4m flood prevention scheme was marked by an inspection from local dignatories.

They were given a conducted tour by Environment Agency officials of the construction area.

The project will protect the low-lying area of the town centre from rising sea levels and release more than 400 homes and commercial properties from the flood blight that is preventing redevelopment and causing insurance problems.
