A Kingsteignton church was one of several Teignbridge churches that opened their doors last Saturday as part of Devon Historic Churches Day.
For its open day St Michael’s Church turned the clock back to 1945 and celebrated the recent 80th anniversaries of both VE Day and VJ Day.
There was be a best-dressed war competition and a chance to chat with members of Kingsteignton History Society. Visitors were also able to take a trip up the church tower and see art displays and an operational model railway.
Event organiser Jackie Edwards was delighted with the turn out on the day.
‘The weather held fair for us and a great number of people turned up,’ she said. ‘Plus we managed to raise nearly £700 for the Devon Historic Churches Trust on the day too.’
