R J COLE, of Greenhill Road, Kingsteignton, writes:

Interference from outsiders!

Previously our village county councillor representative was John Smith; he has now automatically become our town representative! Whatever ideas or plans that he may propose for the town, whether good or bad, will never affect him personally as he lives in Teignmouth – always remember that.

He announced at the town meeting, held on January 7, that the parking problem in Vicarage Hill was to be resolved as follows: yellow lines were to be extended up through the narrow part of Fore Street/Vicarage Hill. Excellent; however, parking was then to be extended at the top side which would allow parking on the bend and on to the area of the roundabout/Greenhill Way. Just how mindless is this? Let's not forget that this is not what was first agreed by the council.

With huge lorries and buses swinging from side to side to get round the roundabout or turn into Vicarage Hill west, this will lead to one thing only - accidents.

Head of highways Brian George made it quite clear some time back that there was no danger being caused by parking in Vicarage Hill and any driver who was involved in an accident there must be a buffoon.

As a town we should have more power and rights so I call on the people of Kingsteignton to stand together to make your points of view heard and not be bullied by outsiders or those who do not seem to know what they are talking about.

It's us who live here and have to put up with all the mistakes.
