I read with interest the article titled Weather at the touch of a button.

Just to let you know, I run a weather station in Teignmouth (Higher Brimley Road) which sends data to the internet 24 hours a day (http://www.greatweather.co.uk/teignmouth/">www.greatweather.co.uk/teignmouth/). It's had quite a lot of interest from around the country and the data also gets sent to an American web server so that it can be seen alongside tens of thousands of other weather stations around the world (see http://tinyurl.com/l6ps7r">http://tinyurl.com/l6ps7r).

Having run the site for more than a year my biggest suggestion for Teignmouth Town Council which, I think, would have a far bigger impact for tourists, is a webcam either looking along the sea front, the Back Beach, watching the Teign Ferry or facing up the Teign.

Weather data's great but most people would be more attracted to Teignmouth by a fantastic sunset up the Teign or a beach packed with visitors than a display saying 17.1 Celsius, 75 per cent humidity, 1019mb pressure and steady, ESE wind at 2mph.

People love a nice view, and am sure that they'd keep on coming back to their website to see what the view's like.

There's also a couple of other weather stations in Teignmouth that put the data online.

The official climate station that's been running for more than 100 years on the Den upload their daily data to http://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=7943">www.teignbridge.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=7943

There's another site on Teignmouth Pier that uploads weather and wave/tidal data (http://www.channelcoast.org/data_management/real_time_data/charts/?chart=94">www.channelcoast.org/data_management/real_time_data/charts/?chart=94) and there are other weather stations in Holcombe and Bishopsteignton that upload every few minutes (please visit the website http://www.greatweather.co.uk/teignmouth/links">www.greatweather.co.uk/teignmouth/links).
