With regard to your article, Pensions Plummet, I feel that the 'bean counters' at Teignbridge Council need to get a grip on reality.
It is a current fact of life that the value of pensions and investments are being devalued both in the private and public sectors.
To suggest that shortfalls in the council pension scheme should be made good by 'hiking' up council tax is an outrage.
Many council taxpayers across the region will have seen their pensions and investments fall in value. It would, therefore, be an insult to burden them further to support what is an unsustainable council pension scheme.
The comment that 'there may be' a possible knock-on effect for council tax bills should be seen as the writing on the wall!
