The Rowcroft Hospice is to hold its annual sponsored walk – this year the Stover Stroll – to help raise vital funds.

The walk, which takes place on Saturday, May 6, at 10am, will follow the Heritage Way – a gentle five-mile route which weaves through woodland, around the lake and along part of the river Teign. Families are welcome to join the event, although it is requested that pushchairs are left at home. Children must be accompanied by an adult and dogs kept on a lead at all times. Walkers are to meet by the Stover park ranger's chalet, near the car park, wearing suitable clothes and flat comfortable shoes. There will be a coffee break by the lake, so remember to bring a flask along, or a picnic if you want to make a day of it. Last year's walk raised more than £3,500 and it is hoped that this year the hospice will top £4,000. The money raised will help to fund the care for people in Torbay and south Devon with life-threatening conditions, and provide support for their workers. Sponsorship forms can be obtained from the hospice by ringing 01803 210846. All children who collect money for the charity will receive a certificate showing how much they have raised.
