fears about the dire consequences of the disappearing sand at Teignmouth have gone to a top government minister.

Part of the sea defences are being scoured by the waves, and undermined, and unless action is taken, many believe considerable damage could be caused to the infrastructure of the town.

A letter has gone to government ministers after a recent meeting of representatives of various interested parties at Bitton House.

Currently the sand and other material regularly dredged up to maintain the navigation channel to the port, can only be dumped at Sprey Point or Bundle Head, which, it is claimed, is too far away to feed the beach levels.
