Residents living close to Dartmoor and the coastline around Teignmouth and Dawlish are fortunate to have some of the best natural surroundings in the South West on their doorstep — and those landscapes can play a major role in supporting health and wellbeing.

From early morning walks along the seafront to afternoons spent exploring the moors, access to open spaces and fresh air encourages people to stay active while also taking time to slow down from the pressures of modern life. Studies continue to show the positive effects that nature, exercise, and coastal living can have on both physical and mental health.

Local walking routes, cycling trails, and outdoor activities offer simple ways for people of all ages to improve fitness and boost wellbeing. Time spent outdoors can help reduce stress, improve sleep, and create a stronger sense of connection with the local community.

The area’s combination of countryside and coast also encourages a healthier pace of life. Whether it is a walk along the beach at Dawlish, a coffee overlooking the harbour in Teignmouth, or a peaceful afternoon on Dartmoor, many residents recognise the value of making time for wellbeing.

In a busy world, Devon’s natural environment remains one of its greatest health benefits.

How What We Eat Shapes Our Bodies — and Why I Love Guiding Others Through It

I’ve always been fascinated by how what we eat influences our bodies — not just our weight, but our energy, our mood, our confidence, and even how we show up in the world. Food isn’t just fuel. It’s information. Every bite sends a message to our body about how to function, repair, and thrive.

The more I learned, the more I realised something powerful: nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated to be life‑changing. And that’s exactly why I love my role as a Slimming World Consultant. Every week, I get to take that passion for nutrition and turn it into something practical, supportive, and genuinely achievable for real people living real lives. Not strict rules. Not guilt. Not perfection. Just simple, flexible, nourishing choices that help the body feel its best.

Nutrition Isn’t About Restriction — It’s About Understanding

So many people arrive in group feeling overwhelmed by food. Years of dieting, mixed messages, and “quick fixes” can make eating feel like a battle. But when we strip it back to basics, something shifts. Food becomes less about what we “can’t” have… and more about what our bodies love.

As a consultant, my job isn’t to tell people what to eat. It’s to help them understand food in a way that feels freeing, not frightening. To show them how to build plates that nourish their bodies, protect their health, and still feel comforting and joyful.

Why Group Support Matters

Nutrition becomes easier when you’re not doing it alone. That’s why our group is so special. It’s a place where we learn together, try new ideas together, and support each other through the wobbles and the wins. Every week, I see members discover something new about themselves — a healthier habit, a shift in mindset, a spark of confidence they didn’t know they had. And those moments? They’re why I do what I do.

Your Invitation to Begin

If you’re ready to understand food in a kinder, clearer, more empowering way — you don’t have to figure it out alone. That’s what our group is here for. A place to learn, grow, reset, and rediscover what your body can do when it’s nourished well. If something in this article has sparked a thought, a feeling, or a “maybe it’s my time” … take that as your sign. Come and join us. Let me support you. Let our group cheer you on. Let this be the moment you choose you.
